"Blues For Allah"
Words by Robert Hunter; music by Jerry Garcia
Copyright Ice Nine Publishing; used by permission.
Arabian wind
The Needle's Eye is thin
The Ships of State sail on mirage
but drown in sand
in No-Man's Land
where ALLAH does command
What good is spilling
blood? It will not
grow a thing
"TASTE ETERNITY"
the sword sings Blues for ALLAH
In'sh'ALLAH
They lie where they fall
There's nothing more to say
The desert stars are bright tonight,
let's meet as friends
The flower of Islam
The fruit of Abraham
The thousand stories have
come round to one again
Arabian Night
our gods pursue their fight
What fatal flowers of
darkness spring from
seeds of light
Bird of Paradise - Fly
In white sky
Blues for ALLAH
In'sh'ALLAH
Let's see with our heart
these things our eyes have seen
and know the truth will still lie
somewhere in between
Under eternity
Under eternity
Under eternity
Blue
Bird of Paradise
Fly
In white sky
Under eternity
Blues
for ALLAH
In'sh'ALLAH

album originally released on 9/1/75

don't mean a thing.... 35 years later

Personally, I thank the great 'I AM' for this music and this community. " Music should be a part of each soul's development"-

i don't like to comment on non dead threads but....

I'm a bar-mitzvahed atheist. I wouldn't talk about Gaza while Hamas is in existance.

True story ducats, which may or may not piss you off, but last weekend coming back down Highway 1 from SF we stopped by the Pigeon Point lighthouse and there was a van that had "Jews for Jesus" on it. I said good afternoon and told the driver I was an "atheist for Israel". He didn't smile...

Don't really know; didn't think it would.

And I agree re Hamas. I also think that making Iran stronger over the last few years made Hamas stronger. Mission accomplished?

It is a scary neighborhood . Thank you Vladimir for helping the Iranians last week start up their reactor . Maybe you ought to do more whale crossbow hunting . Manly !
Thank-God Israel has their nukes on subs . Hopefully it will stay an apocalyptic ideologue's hand .

Don't get me started...I still think the quote above (of course, from the movie, can't recall how TEL actually put it) sums it up nicely, and mucking about just made it that much worse...Speaking of JB, I heard that...oh...okay. Nevermind.

I just do not understand antisemitism . Never have . It is like malaria , a consistent reoccurring fever .
I read a book by Paul Johnson , 'The History of the Jews' . All 5K+ years . It is not a pretty story .

Leonard: I have to admit (sorry...chalk it up to prior Troll Shock and Awe creating a state of Post Troll Trauma Syndrome), I quickly checked your prior posts before responding. Very interesting reading that was better yet when pulled all together, at least for me.

Couldn't agree more about LoA/DavidL...epic in the truest sense of the word, and the beauty of the desert conveyed thru-out is simply unmatched.

If you don't mind my asking, and of course, I assume you are exactly the person you "sign off" as, why the abiding interest in making clear exactly who you are? Has past experience caused you to conclude that full disclosure helps reduce the antics (eg, Trolling) that we Forumites so often complain about? IE, are you "making a statement" by this action? Or, no such implications...just the way you happened to do it...?

I sadly do not think it will ever end well .
I am amazed how prescient GD where ( laugh , laugh ). Today , I do not think any A level musicians would come close to making such titles of songs or the music therein . Lord , what would happen if the ever changing , what is objectionable speech today crowd , targeted this album . I guess it would already be over if there were any pics of M. on the cover ( or anywhere ) . I wish I could make a doddle right here . Those Danish cartoonists know the price of free speech .

They love Buck in the middle east - a lot of oil workers carried him and Don Rich over to the work site.

I love your sense of humor ABD . You have given me many laughs during my short time here , even the one's at my own expense . If you can't laugh at yourself...

Was that from Hee-Haw ? I used to watch it as a kid , with my hippie 60's Southern Rock Dad making fun of me . It was so out of my NE culture. I was fascinated .

Nope. That was much earlier. The real deal out of Bakersfield. I think it was from his studio - he was a local media mogul with radio and tv stations. Very helpful getting Merle Haggard's career going. And this tune helped Ringo's:
